The Sample is back.

So i’ve been trying to move all my music to one spot on the net. I really like bandcamp.com. They allow for the most profit to the artist and give the listeners more then one option when buying and listening to music. So i recently uploaded my 2006 sample album and attached this story to go with it. Enjoy:

n 2006 i wrote 8 of songs i was pretty happy with. My mom gave me her old desktop imac and away i went. Kick started garageband and just wanted to get some ideas down. I recorded these in a two bedroom TVA apartment at BYUH with sometimes screaming babies or the sound of neighbor slippers walking down the stairs by my window :). There’s nothing amazing about this record except that for me it captures perfectly 2006. Almost graduated from college, having two little baby boys, trying to figure out what to do with my next few years out of school.

As far as music goes i really had no big goals. With these recordings i did a little concert along side my senior fine art show. My main goal was to some how figure out how to get these recordings on itunes! “itunes is where you can get Coldplay” i would think and so i wanted to have my music there as well. That was my musical goal of 2006. Turns out not to be to tough after all :). Itunes 2006! SUCCESS!!!

After graduaction i found a musical website called www.sellaband.com. I looked at it as a bank account for a future record. 50K was the goal and even if i raised it myself i would at least have that money aside to make a real album. So i uploaded THESE tracks to the site. I was very shocked to find 110.00 towards my album the next day after uploading my first simple tracks. The love kept coming and people could hear my potential. I was moved over and over by peoples/believers kindness and 4 months after signing up on www.sellaband.com raised 50K!!! A goal i thought i’d be waiting 50 years for happened before my young eyes! SUCCESS!!

4 of these tracks made it on my 2007 professionally recorded album. I am always writing but this i am very happy to share “the sample” with you as a time capsule to my beginnings of Cubworld :).

Going to Hollywood | Tsunami Charity

Before you read whats below i just want to say that I’m really excited to be a part of this project. Some Poly artists that i have looked up to will be a part of this as well so it makes me even more excited to work on this level. Gary King is one talented cat! If you dont know him by now check him out here: http://www.myspace.com/garykingmusic he wrote the song we’ll be singing.

Polynesian Artists Band Together to Record Tsunami Charity Single at World-Famous Capitol Records’ Studios

Proceeds will go towards the Rebuild-the-Schools Effort in the two Samoas On Saturday, December 12, a group of Polynesian musical artists from around the country and world will gather at Hollywood’s landmark Capitol Records studios to record a benefit charity single, Teardrop from God, the proceeds of which will go towards rebuilding schools in the recently tsunami-ravaged U.S. territory of American Samoa and the independent nation of Samoa. An 8.0 undersea earthquake triggered a tsunami that struck the Samoan island archipelago on September 29, displacing thousands and killing scores of people.

The iconic Capitol Records building houses the legendary recording studios A and B, where world-famous artists and groups have recorded many classic songs and albums. The list of talent that has recorded there is a long and storied one: Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Judy Garland, Tina Turner, Queen, Les Paul, Bonnie Raitt, to name a few, as well as other recent, major artists like Coldplay, Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, Nelly, the Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Liz Phair, Jane’s Addiction, MC Hammer, and many more. Some of the Polynesian artists who will be adding their names to this illustrious list of Capitol Records studio performers include New Zealand’s own Hip-Hop/R&B sensation Chong Nee, Cubworld, Kontiki, JR Maliga of Natusol, Trey Smoov, Na drua, Spawnbrezzie, Mz Kina, Mz Rachel, Sirdahfyde Entertainment, the Bay Area’s newest sensation Jonitta, Kontiki, Gary King, and JT Niumata.

The event is being organized by a coalition of artists, music industry professionals, and community activists, led by Teresa Tuimaseve, CEO and Founder of Island Beats, JT Niumata from UrbanPacifikMusik.com, and LA-based singer-songwriter, Gary King, who wrote the actual charity single, Teardrop from God. King was born and raised in American Samoa, and his mother was from independent Samoa. The recording session will be documented by a film crew from GotFilms.biz. The single will be released on Itunes in time for the holiday season. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of Teardrop from God will specifically go towards rebuilding schools that were destroyed by the tsunami. A public accounting of all donations will be made via the web, and of course, all donations will be tax-deductible. All donations will be routed through non-governmental agencies in both Samoas. A list of those agencies is forthcoming, as well as a website with more detailed information regarding the event.

BandCamp | My next store

just a little insider tip on my music. I’ve been setting up music shop at http://cubworld.bandcamp.com/ i have 4 projects on there and i should have a 4th real soon. I want to add a COVERS project as well.

All covers are free! Just hit download and save them to your computer.

All the originals are probably the cheapest you can find online. Im not complaining though as bandcamp doesnt keep any of the purchases made (for now).

FYI. My current full album goes for 9.99 on itunes and guess what i get from that? 1.00! It’s not that i dont appreciate it but i want my bandcamp page to be the best deal for both of us. I think i have it selling for 5.00 and i get all 5. So if your into my music and like helping artists directly then check it out.

The last really cool thing i like about bandcamp is that YOU NAME YOUR PRICE! there is a minimum but this allows you to give me what you decide. For example, the minimum price for my album is set to 5.00 but you can give me 8.00 or 80.00 if you like! Tips are always nice :) but there is no pressure, just options.

as i get closer to finishing my website i’ll be changing the bandcamp url i have to match my site better.

New Sellaband | Next Full Album

Thanks for checking out this post. I need your help. As most of you know i started doing music because of a site called www.sellaband.com where people from around the world raised 50K for me to use to make an album in 2007.

This year I’ve rejoined the site to raise funds for my next full album. Recently things on sellaband have changed and i think for the better. Instead of having to hit 50K or 100K sellaband is now allowing artists to hit anywhere between 10K-100K. This is exciting.

Making my last album in 2007 took all of the 50K because of the high profile producers, mixing, and mastering people we used to make the album. I think it paid off but really in the last 3 years I’ve connected with a lot of talented musicians and studios and KNOW you can make quality albums for much much less then 50K believe me.

SO HERES PART OF THE PLAN. I currently have just over 10K on my NEW sellaband account. I am debating going for 20-25K which would mean we are half way to the start of the next album! Seriously guys this is going to be a great one so i’d love everyone on board with this.

I want to know from you as a Believer/Investor of the next album is what kinds of things would you like from me as an incentive? 10.00 is the minimum to be a part of this album. The minimum prize for believing will for sure include a free download of the full album. So what do you think believers that invest more with more then one part should get? A shirt? Limited edition CD with tracks that will only be given to Believers? a kiss? LOL this is what i’d like to hear from you guys.

To send me your input email me at cubworldmusic@gmail.com

Let’s make this happen friends.

Sin City Remix

To here the original click here

Maitreya and I linked up in New York in 2007 and linked our two incomplete songs to create Sin City. It almost felt like fate brought our ideas together to express our vision for Sin City.

Towards the end of 2008 i got this email of a mix for this track from BIM. It’s been hanging out in my inbox since and i think it’s time people have access to this great remix. Enjoy.

SoundCloud. To Legit to..be true

So i know i was pretty stoked about SoundCloud BUT it turns out they arent that rad after all. I understand that people want to be paid for their services but there comes a point when its just not a good deal anymore. 9.99 euros for the lowest package they have! Thats almost 20 bucks A MONTH!!!! I for sure dont put out that much original music so its not worth it for me. What i dont get is that places like flickr.com allow you to pay 25.00 A YEAR!! and that allows you unlimited uploads for the year, not the month. Deals like SoundCloud vs. Flickr make me feel like SoundCloud is just reaching to far into my pockets. Oh well. Maybe one day when im rolling in the mula i’ll get back on there. Till then i’m actually finding that i can achive what i want with downloadable links etc with reverbnation.com.

For example. Click here to download the Demo version fo Moving Love.

Songbird - Oasis Cover

pretty bumbed that Oasis is splitting up. They really started me out writing the kind of music like writing. My first taste of alternative music was with Oasis. I never was a fan of how they would profess to be better then The Beatles but they did write a lot of awesome tunes. Their music will be miss more then they. Dear Oasis, you will live on forever in my ipod LOL :D. Thanks for all the music you have shared!
